Residential Trash, Garbage & Recycling Pickup FAQs

What is the scheduled garbage pickup time in my neighborhood?

The day and time for trash collection in your locality are determined by several variables. Tri-State Disposal provides its customers with straightforward access to their specific pickup schedules.

On your collection day, please ensure you roll your carts to the curb and position them curbside before 6 a.m. It's important not to overload the carts; their lids should close securely. Overfilled carts may incur additional fees. Please be certain that all trash and debris is placed inside the cart, as any waste left outside the cart may not be collected.

Although the list of permissible materials may differ based on your location, typically, the following items are allowed in your everyday trash for disposal in your curbside toter, bin, can, or container:

    • Diapers
    • Disposable razors
    • Cactus and palm branches
    • Cat litter and pet feces
    • Glassware and ceramic dishes/cups
    • Hoses and wire
    • Juice boxes/pouches
    • Non-fluorescent light bulbs
    • Sheet glass (windows, mirrors, etc.)
    • Foam cups or packing materials
    • Treated wood (painted, stained, etc.)

Please be aware that the following hazardous household waste items should not be treated as everyday garbage and must not be disposed of curbside in your totes, bins, or carts:

    • Batteries
    • Electronics
    • Fluorescent light bulbs
    • Paint and paint cans
    • Used motor oil and filters
    • Prescription medications

We encourage you to visit one of these locations to ensure the proper disposal of the aforementioned household hazardous waste items.

For more detailed information on recyclable and non-recyclable materials, as well as recycling tips for your home, please visit our Recycling Guideline page. As a quick reference, the following common items should be recycled if they are clean and dry:

    • Bottles and cans
    • Paper
    • Cardboard

Non-recyclable materials should be placed in your standard trash receptacles. Please ensure that your trash cans, containers, bins, or carts are not overloaded and that their lids can fully close. Overfilled or contaminated containers may result in additional fees. Generally, the following items cannot be recycled through curbside recycling programs. For more information on recyclable and non-recyclable materials, please refer to our Recycling Guidelines page.

    • Plastic bags (these can often be returned to a local grocery store)
    • Ceramic dishes, cups and glassware
    • Juice boxes/juice pouches
    • Foam cups or packing materials
    • Windows, mirrors, sheet glass

For the responsible disposal of extra-large or bulky non-recyclable items, Tri-State Disposal offers a convenient Transfer Station. Bulky items are those that exceed the size or weight limits of your regular trash container or bin.

If your Tri-State Disposal container, tote, or bin for your home is missing or damaged, you can find information on how to request a repair or replacement here.

There's no need to schedule your bulk item pickup. On the day of your service, make sure your items are placed in the appropriate area next to your container.
