    Residential Trash & Recycling FAQs

What time does my trash get picked up?

Your pickup day and time depend on your location. Check your collection schedule online or contact us for details.

Place your bin curbside before 6 a.m. on your scheduled pickup day. Ensure the lid closes completely and do not overfill the container, which may result in extra fees.

Your household trash should contain regular waste that recycling centers do not accept. Common acceptable items include:

    • Food waste and kitchen scraps

    • Non-recyclable plastics

    • Cat litter and pet waste (bagged)

    • Glassware and ceramic dishes

    • Foam cups and packing materials

    • Treated or painted wood

Some materials are hazardous and require special disposal. The following items should not be placed in your trash bin:

    • Batteries

    • Electronics

    • Fluorescent light bulbs

    • Paint, paint cans, and solvents

    • Motor oil and used filters

    • Prescription medications

To properly dispose of these items, visit a hazardous waste collection site.

Recycling is an important part of waste management. The following items should always go in your recycling bin if they are clean and dry:

    • Paper and cardboard

    • Plastic bottles and containers

    • Aluminum and tin cans

    • Glass jars and bottles

The curbside collection does not accept certain recycling materials. These should be placed in your regular trash or taken to a specialized recycling center:

    • Plastic grocery bags (return to stores with bag recycling programs)

    • Foam cups and packing materials

    • Window glass and mirrors

    • Juice boxes and pouches

    • Ceramic dishes or glassware

If your trash bin is missing or damaged, contact Tri-State Disposal to request a repair or replacement.

Tri-State Disposal provides bulk item pickup for large waste that does not fit in your trash bin. On your scheduled collection day, place bulk items next to your container for pickup.
