What Counts as Bulk Trash?
Bulk trash includes large or heavy household items that don’t fit inside your regular 96-gallon trash container. While accepted items may vary by location, the following are typically eligible for bulk trash pickup in Chicago:
- Mattresses and box springs
- Bed frames
- Couches, chairs, and recliners
- Cabinets or shelving units
- Water heaters
- Small residential construction debris
- Rolled and tied carpet (must be under 50 lbs and in 4-ft sections)
Please note: Items must be safe to handle and light enough for one person to lift.
How Bulk Trash Pickup Works
We’ve made the process simple for our current residential customers. Here’s what you can expect:
- Included with Regular Service
We’ll remove one bulk item per week at no additional charge—just place it curbside by 6 a.m. on your regular collection day. - Larger Loads or Off-Schedule Pickups
If you have more than one item or need pickup on a day that’s not your regular service day, give us a call. Additional fees may apply based on the size and volume of your trash. - Curbside Placement
All bulk items must be placed next to your standard container. Our team may skip items if you leave them inside containers or fail to place them curbside.
